Working with Hackworth Model Railway Group.

Trent Valley Model Railway Society has formed a partnership with Hackworth Model Railway Group to help and support each other in taking model railway layouts to shows. Below are details of their layouts we can jointly offer.

Hackworth (Jutland Street)

Hackworth (Jutland Street) represents a locomotive depot in the 1950s situated on the Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire border.
The main function of the depot is to supply and maintain freight locomotives for transporting coal from the collieries and open cast areas to the main line at Staveley and Annesley. The fictional location of Hackworth is somewhere to the west of Mansfield.
The stock is primarily of Great Central and LNER origin with several W.D. and BR standard classes. For variety there are sometimes visitors in the shape of the new diesels that are beginning to infiltrate and the rare visit of a preserved loco.

Hackworth (Trafalgar Terrace)

Hackworth (Trafalgar Terrace) is a tribute to the railways of the 1950s when steam reigned supreme and a visit to a locomotive shed or workshops was the highlight of the week.
The model is based on a fictitious area to the North West of Birmingham on the British Railways Western Region line.
The model has locomotive workshops together with a 4 Road ‘Churchward’ Straight Shed and a Roundhouse.
The locomotives on display are from humble pannier tanks through to ‘Castles’ and ‘Kings’.
Colour is provided by some of the preserved locomotives that the British Railways Board kept in working order.
In the works you can see locomotives under repair, being lifted and welding work being carried out.
The Roundhouse contains a working turntable with 16 radiating tracks.
Outside you will see locomotives being serviced, dropping their fires, being coaled and watered.
All the above accompanied by light and sound taking you back to the 50s.
The layout is 4.1 metres long by 0.6metres wide and can be transported in the back of 2 estate sized cars and is available for one- or two-day exhibitions.
This layout is normally kept in the West Midlands.
